That now brings our speculation to four possible personalities.
What is also interesting is according to an interpretation of Doc.32 (http://kotzkblog.blogspot.co.za/2017/07/136-what-happened-in-medzebuzh-after.html) the Rav of Rashkov copied Sefer haTzoref for the Baal Shem Tov's personal use. And we also know from Doc 48 and 51 (in this post) that R. Adam handed the teachings over to the Baal Shem Tov.
It would be interesting to correlate both notions to understand why, if R. Adam was R. Tzoref, didnt he simply hand over Sefer haTzoref himself?
To be clear, I do not believe the early Chassidim were Sabbateans. I do, however, believe they were influenced by some of the mystical aspects of the movement but needed to 'hide the teachings' so that they not be considered as part of a movement that acknowledged a false messiah, while taking a model which popularised mysticism for the first time and building on it.
Kotzk Bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14249905502266813412noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5576585332526677688.post-37916852555178454312017-08-27T20:48:43.836+02:002017-08-27T20:48:43.836+02:00Letter no 43 is a letter from Adam Baal Shem to t...Letter no 43 is a letter from Adam Baal Shem to the Baal Shem Tov. Previously, I questioned about the Jewishness of the name Adam and you referred me to a previous blog and who he might be. The speculation about who Adam Baal Shem was is also dealt with by leading Kabbalist, Professor Scholem . He suggests that Adam Baal Shem is actually Heschel Zoref. Zoref considered himself to be Moshiach ben Yosef, with Shabbatai Tzvi being Moshiach ben David.
Zoref is famous/ notorious for transcribing his visions into five books, entirely built upon gematria.
Is it just co-incidence that Adam Baal Shem wrote letters built on gematria to the Baal Shem Tov? And the Baal Shem Tov is alleged to have had possessed these books of Zoref.

My rabbi, being Lubavitch, took much pleasure in explaining the progenitors of King David and the line from Moav, which was essentially forbidden to Jews (accepting the explanation of Moabite and Moabitess) and how King David as a product of this line, is moshiach.

As more of your letters emerge will Lubavitch and the other Chassidic sects start celebrating their origins from the Sabbatians of Shabbatai Tzi? The GRA didn’t seem to have much doubt that they were Sabbatian reincarnates!
mitnadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01781738510135641564noreply@blogger.com
